Altus High School is a Class 5A high school, located on a 32-acre campus in a college-like setting. Serving freshmen through seniors, the school operates on a traditional semester schedule. Classes are held from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Altus High School...A secure, positive environment where educators, parents, and community provide all students a knowledge base and technological competency to succeed in a global society as productive citizens and life-long learners.
Over 130 courses are offered at the school, taught by 70 faculty members. Special classes and programs are provided for students, including Advanced Placement courses; award-winning art, band, and vocal music programs; a radio and television broadcasting studio; 15 sports teams; and over 20 student organizations. Just a few of the award-winning student programs are National Honor Society, Air Force Junior ROTC, AHS Choir, That Altus Band, Tennis, Future Farmers of America, and ACTV Television Production.
Concurrent enrollment in college classes and modern vocational-technical classes enable students to better prepare for the workplace or university studies.
Each year, Altus High School students are named to the Oklahoma All-State lists in academics, athletics, band, and vocal music.
