The Extended-Day Child Care program provides a warm and caring after-school environment for children, with a variety of educational and recreational activities planned each day. The program is available for elementary and intermediate school aged children (grades K-6) who are currently enrolled in the Altus School System. Children are cared for from the end of the school day to 5:30 p.m. daily.

Activities range from recreation and games to arts and crafts. Reading, music, home work time, tutoring, computers, movies, and free time are offered.

Extended-Day Child Care is open each school day; however, on parent-teacher conference days and on days when school is not in session, the program is not offered.

The cost per child is approximately $60 per month, or drop-ins are welcome at $5 per day. Cut rates are available according to the number of children in one family. Nutritious snacks are provided to children at no additional charge.

The Extended-Day Child Care program is currently offered at Altus Intermediate School, Rivers, Roosevelt, Sunset, Washington, and Will Rogers Elementary Schools.

Your current web browser must be updated to version 7 of Internet Explorer (IE7) to take advantage of all of template's capabilities.

Why should I upgrade to Internet Explorer 7? Microsoft has redesigned Internet Explorer from the ground up, with better security, new capabilities, and a whole new interface. Many changes resulted from the feedback of millions of users who tested prerelease versions of the new browser. The most compelling reason to upgrade is the improved security. The Internet of today is not the Internet of five years ago. There are dangers that simply didn't exist back in 2001, when Internet Explorer 6 was released to the world. Internet Explorer 7 makes surfing the web fundamentally safer by offering greater protection against viruses, spyware, and other online risks.
