Oklahoma Parents As Teachers (OPAT) program is a state-funded program established to help lay a strong foundation for the earliest learners. This voluntary, universal access program provides parents with best practices for stimulating their children under the age of three.

In monthly home visits, the OPAT-certified instructor uses the Born to Learn curriculum to help parents learn ways to support age-appropriate development of their young children. Support systems are established through monthly group meetings. Developmental screenings and network resources are also provided to establish a strong early start for success.

The benefits to participation include:

  •
    • Children are significantly more advanced in language, problem solving, academic, and social skills from the OPAT experience.
    • Children involved in OPAT perform higher on kindergarten readiness tests when parents use the strategies.
    • Parents feel more confident in their parenting skills and they are more involved in their child’s development.

For more information contact the OPAT instructor at 580-481-2108, or come to Eugene Field Center, 314 South Forrest, Altus OK 73521

Your current web browser must be updated to version 7 of Internet Explorer (IE7) to take advantage of all of template's capabilities.

Why should I upgrade to Internet Explorer 7? Microsoft has redesigned Internet Explorer from the ground up, with better security, new capabilities, and a whole new interface. Many changes resulted from the feedback of millions of users who tested prerelease versions of the new browser. The most compelling reason to upgrade is the improved security. The Internet of today is not the Internet of five years ago. There are dangers that simply didn't exist back in 2001, when Internet Explorer 6 was released to the world. Internet Explorer 7 makes surfing the web fundamentally safer by offering greater protection against viruses, spyware, and other online risks.
